Halloween Terracyle

Vampires, skeletons, sugar rushes and more! There's plenty to be spooked about on Halloween, lets take excess plastic trash off the list.

Wake Refill is hosting a candy wrapper Terracycle box for the holiday season. We are accepting candy wrappers that are PLASTIC or FOIL. The wrappers need to be free of food waste.

• Plastic Wrappers
• Foil Wrappers

Unaccepted Waste

• Paper-based Wrappers
• Wooden or Bamboo Sticks
• Food Waste
• Cardboard

We will be accepting candy wrapper waste through Novmeber, possibly longer depending on how quickly the box fills up.

What makes something locally recyclable depends on whether your local recycling company can make a profit recycling it. If the cost of collecting and processing the waste is lower than the value of the resulting raw material, it will likely be locally recyclable. If the costs are higher, then it likely won’t be. Terracycle works with their customers to supplement the recycling process of hard to recycle items. Learn more or purchase your own box here.

At Wake, we always prioritize reducing, reusing, repairing, repurposing, and composting before we resort to recycling, especially in regards to plastic. However, recycling has a very important roll to play when it comes to the waste already in society's consumption stream, so we hope this eases any anxieties you may have about the associated waste and allows you to enjoy the holiday with your community.
